Grossnickle Eye
Center serves patients through it's Indiana offices in Warsaw and
Mishawaka as well as through clinics in Plymouth and Rochester.
Since our founding, the medical staff has grown to four
ophthalmologists and three optometrists. While the practice now
serves thousands of patients, our focus at Grossnickle Eye
Center has not changed. We continue to strive to provide the
highest level of care for each patient.

Dr. Paul Grossnickle, O.D. founded the
Grossnickle Eye Center 1957 after serving two tours of duty in the
US Navy. The optometry practice grew rapidly and by the mid-1960s,
the center had moved to its current location near Kosciusko
Community Hospital. Dr. Paul Grossnickle retired in 2005.
When Steven Grossnickle, M.D. completed his residency at the
prestigious Case Western Reserve School in 1978, he returned to his
hometown of Warsaw to practice medicine. Paul referred his cataract
and corneal transplant patients to the practice, which saved them
from having to travel to Indianapolis, Fort Wayne or South Bend for
care.
The practice soon needed an additional ophthalmologist and luckily
Dr. Paul had another son in medical school. After completing his
residency in ophthalmology (also at Case Western Reserve School),
Bruce Grossnickle, M.D., returned to Warsaw in 1982 to join the
family practice.
In 1987, the Grossnickle Eye Center decided to take part in the
growing trend of offering an on-site surgery center. The expansion
project added an ambulatory surgery center specifically designed
for eye surgery. The center now performs thousands of cataract,
refractive and glaucoma surgeries each year.
In 1998 the practice had grown to include a new office in the Edison Lakes office complex. The practice now
offers the area a convenient location for patients needing cataract
surgery Refractive Vision Correction including, LASIK vision correction,
multifocal lenses, corneal transplants, glaucoma
treatment as well as vision problems related to diabetes.
Over the years, the practice’s growth brought new doctors in to
serve Northern Indiana patients.
Ophthalmologist Christopher D.
Knight, M.D. joined the practice in 1997. In 2002 Dr. David F. Ryser, M.D., joined the practice bringing a
special focus to pediatric eye disease.
In addition, Grossnickle Eye Center employs three optometric
consultants, Jon E. Mark, O.D.,
Dennis R. Miller, O.D. and
Kevin
Hickman, O.D. The practice also employs a dedicated staff of clinical employees
including nurses, administrators and technicians.
Today, Grossnickle Eye Center performs more surgeries than any other
practice in Northern Indiana. Although there’s a myth that you have
to travel to big cities to get better medical care, Grossnickle Eye
Center has proven otherwise. One of the finest eye surgery centers
can be found right in your own back yard.
