When it comes to diagnostic testing, most people are
familiar with a dilated exam or the pressure test for glaucoma. However,
in the diagnosis and treatment of eye disease our doctors use an
extensive array of advanced technology.
Photography
Photography allows the physician to study a patient's retina or optic
nerve. Using our advanced digital imaging system, your doctor can
counsel you on the day of your eye exam regarding your visual pathology
or review your findings with your family eye doctor. Photographic
studies are routinely ordered in a wide variety of ophthalmic conditions
such as glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.
Scanning lasers
Three-dimensional maps are used to diagnose and track the progression of
eye disease such as optic nerve damage that results from
glaucoma. They allow earlier detection than
can be perceived by the human eye.
