My family and I love to go scuba diving, snorkeling and swimming on our vacations. Poor visibility is quite a hindrance in trying to perform water sports. Eyeglasses are obviously out and it's risky trying to wear contact lenses. Without either you cannot focus or judge distances and it's even more of an inconvenience.
A few years ago, I began researching LASIK vision correction and discussed it with my family optometrist. I decided to wait for more procedures to be performed and see how others felt about their LASIK results. I also hoped the price of the procedure would decrease. My husband, realizing how blind I was, gave me a LASIK surgery gift certificate as a birthday present last year. (Actually, I think he also got tired of hearing me fumble for my eyeglasses first thing each morning!) It's truly been a great gift for me!
We chose Grossnickle Eye Center because of their excellent reputation, experience in performing the procedure and their success rate with other clients in our area. After having LASIK surgery at their facility, I was impressed with the professionalism, accessibility, thoroughness and follow-up of the doctors and staff. I would highly recommend them to anyone.
When I discuss my procedure with friends and family, my advice to them is to remember you only have one set of eyes. Make sure you choose someone reputable with a proven track record. I encourage friends to research the facility and doctors. Also, try to talk to several people who have had the procedure done to find out how pleased they are with their results.
For me, LASIK was a wonderful investment with fantastic results. After hassling with eyeglasses for 36 years I haven't missed them a bit!
